The NIE ('Número de Identidad de Extranjero' in Spanish) is required for virtually every official transaction in Spain, such as buying property, opening a bank account, or starting a business. Every non-Spanish citizen needs an NIE to engage in financial or legal activities in Spain. 

Foreigners who need to carry out activities in Spain that require an NIE can apply for one. You can apply for an NIE in person at a Spanish police station or consulate, or use our online service for a more convenient process.

To reside in Spain, you must apply for the appropriate residency permit or visa. Residency involves a separate process and documentation. However, if you become a resident, you will use your existing NIE on your residency documentation. 

The main documents needed are a valid copy of your passport and a signed Power of Attorney (PoA) authorizing us to act on your behalf. It is important that your passport has not expired by the time of the application. Both documents must be notarized and apostilled. For non-EU citizens, all pages of the passport must be notarized.

 Our process begins with you filling out an online form and making a payment. We then send you a Power of Attorney (PoA) to sign. You can choose to sign this document in person with a local notary or online. Once the PoA is signed and apostilled, along with a notarized copy of your passport, you send these documents to us. We then handle the entire application process with Spanish authorities. 

No, notary fees, apostille costs, and courier charges for sending the required documents to us are not included in our fees and are the responsibility of the customer. Notary and apostille fees vary depending on the country. If you prefer to use online notary services, we can recommend a platform. Typically, online notary services charge €144 for notarizing a Power of Attorney along with a copy of the passport, and €120 for the apostille. These prices include VAT.

 An apostille is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention. It's required to make your documents legally valid in Spain. The apostille must be in Spanish and is needed for both the PoA and your passport copy. 

 The entire process typically takes about 6 weeks from the time we receive your completed, notarized, and apostilled documents. This timeframe can vary depending on the current workload of Spanish authorities. 

Yes, that's one of the key benefits of our service. We handle the entire process on your behalf, so you don't need to be physically present in Spain to obtain your NIE. 

The NIE number itself does not expire. Once assigned, it remains valid for life. However, the physical NIE certificate (the white paper) is typically valid for three months from the date of issue. This doesn't mean your NIE becomes invalid after three months; it simply means you might need to request a new certificate for certain procedures if your current one is older than three months. 

The white NIE certificate is issued to non-EU citizens or EU citizens staying in Spain for less than three months. It's a simple document showing your NIE number. The green NIE, also known as the Certificado de Registro de Ciudadano de la Unión, is for EU citizens planning to reside in Spain for more than three months. It serves as proof of residency along with providing the NIE number. Non-EU citizens receive a TIE (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero) instead of the green certificate if the obtain a residency permit.

Yes, minors can apply for a NIE number. If you're applying for a NIE on behalf of a minor, please inform us at the start of the process. In these cases, parents or legal guardians must sign the Power of Attorney. Additionally, you need to provide proof of your relationship to the minor, such as a birth certificate. If the birth certificate is not in Spanish or isn't a model from the Vienna Convention of 1976, it must be translated and apostilled. This ensures that Spanish authorities can verify the parent-child relationship and the parents' authority to act on behalf of the minor. 

 If there are changes to your personal information (such as name, nationality, or address) after receiving your NIE, you should report these changes to the Spanish authorities.
